Corringie Community - Guestbook

Thank you for visiting our pages.
Once again my grade 7 students and I are putting on a massive land claims court case set in Perth, Western Australia... our main focus is: Who owns the land and how should the land of Western Australia be developed to promote economic wealth and also protect Aboriginal traditional culture? Are these two goals mutually exclusive? My students enjoy researching and attempting to answer this essential question. My best wishes in your continuing efforts to live according to your cultural beliefs.

I was impressed with your progress in creating a community that is family centered and family supportive, in honor of your ancestry and the traditional ways of your people. I hope you take it all the way. Do away with the European commodities, keep it simple, in the way of your people. To a true heart..... jeri from Alaska

As a koori woman from the central NSW district now residing in W.A. I found the site very educational and rewarding to learn some of the history first hand regards your people and Family. I am a Wiradjuri woman and from the Grant family of NSW, maybe you can put some of this onto stick so those who do not know how to surf the web can learn your history and your story.

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents direct marketing companies that are involved in the marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent!

An excellent site. I have sent you a separate e-mail message. Looking at my country these days from afar, it appears to me that any cretin who writes ianane words on walls in a Kalgoorlie back alley like that shown on your site is still living in absolute ignorance. All os us who call ourselves Australians had better think twice now before making slurs. The "Lost Generation" has shown what we all should have recognized for the past 100 years or more: "Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones..." No fourth or fifth or sixth generation Australian can now be too sure who might be in his family tree. Great work, Vic. Keep at it!

I follow military history and feel that the aboriginal contribution to this countrys military history needs to be documented and represented better then it has in the past. All the best and thanks again for your story.

He scared the "candy" out of everyone!!! Anyway, would love to hear from you. I won't be going to California. May be heading to Kerrville Texas though. There is a Presbyterian college there and I hope to get my Masters in Teaching, and Bachellors in Sign Language. Big demand for teachers. I'd love to come to the settlement snd possibly teach Sign Language. What do you think? I'll write again soon. I hope this finds everyone in good health and spirits.... Megan.....

first i had read Marlo Morgan's book and said hello to aborigins. i had heard about you before but it took a time to understand you, that you are "Real Human". now i am the person that always will be behind you to support you in every stages of my life. aborigins need support to live inspite of the murder that called civilization. i hope i was there to support u , be with u hand to hand and try to be a "Real Human". But all i can do is just let my heart beat with you. Be yourselves my dear aborigin friends. Keep your culture and believes. and let the civilized(!) people understand you. The time will come and mankind will understand that, it doesnt matters what color we are. Only thing is we all have hearts, we all breath and we all alive. Let us hope for the best for us and all the form of life.

I have always been interested in the aboriginal culture. The beauty of your people fascinates me. But I never knew of the racism you face in your home country until I listened to Cathy Freeman speak of it in an interview for the Olympics. I am trying not to be a trendy sociologist, but I couldn't fight the urge to find out more about her people and their plight, which is how I came across your website in search of more information. It is sad to know that dark-skinned people are discriminated against no matter where you go.The concept of racism against dark skin just boggles my mind. I can't understand it. I want so badly to know where it started and why. A dark-skinned person is subject to mistreatment no matter what country he/she is in or what language he/she speaks. That amazes me. The question is "WHY?" I will be praying to find out what, if anything, I can effectively contribute to the cause of you the aborigines. I think that you are beautiful and unique and I want to know more about you. I will continue my research on your history and current events pertaining to your plight for justice. Take trmendous care and please keep figting for justice. ---Yanika Daniels

Dear Vic, I hope that your energy for trying to correct the abysmal treatment of your peoples brings results. Denial by the bigoted Prime Minister and his supporters will will be silenced once the masses of the Australian public are educated to the true plight of the aboriginal population. Oral history is a part of this education process and your website is an excellent tool. Its never to late...

How do I begin? I've just finished a two-year course in child & youth care @ Grant MacEwen Community college. I've also completed a Life Skills coaching coarse. I began looking for work a couple/three weeks ago. I began to realize I was being called somewhere else when nothing seemed to click. I know now that my training isn't complete here, so after I have completed a counselor's addiction training @ Nechi I want to come over there to get some experience. I would be grateful for any suggestions or help you may be able to offer. Thanks. Linda.

I feel it is the time for the ancient wisdom of the old culture to be reintroduced to the young culture, as your wisdom is most important in these changing times. my teacher Ms Hale taught us for ages about the sad history of aboriginals and it has made me realize that aboriginals had a very unfair and rotten past. I firmly believe that aboriginals deserve an apology. Some of the class were racist but Ms Hale nagging made them change BYE Davo Greeno

Thank you for sharing your stories. I especially liked the one entiled, "Stoneage". I hope the internet can provide you with assistance in your fight for your rights. Your's is a sad story shared by too many people who have suffered at the hands of a Dominant Society. It is shameful that human beings can treat one another this way. Stay strong in your stuggle!
